Media Impact

For my project I would want to test T.V use and it relationship to the development with young children . I would conduct and experiment of about 80 children all around the age of two. The experiment would be for the duration of about an entire year. I would have a control group which would be children that  had no T.V usage and a mixture of different groups watching different types of media on T.V. The objective would be to see if any of the T.V watching kids by the end of the ear showed any signs of modeling and if so to what extent. My hypothesis is that they most likely would. It would be interesting to also find if "intelligent programing" actually shows modeling as well. I think an experiment of this type probably has been done before but since i have a young two year old cousin that watches T.V like crazy I found it interesting.

  1. I wonder about parents' cooperation with the experiment. Would it be better to first identify families that have the TV on whatever all the time, families that try to keep certain shows off while kids are around, and families that already limit TV to educational? Then survey the families on various behavioral measures.
